How to Use The OddsMatcher – Step by Step Guide

What is The OddsMatcher

The OddsMatcher is an amazing feature what is included in your OddsMonkey subscription, it helps make matched betting as fast and time efficient as possible. The software has been developed to help us Matched Bettors find the best possible matches between bookmaker back odds and exchange lay odds, meaning the matches with the smallest difference between the 2 different odds.

This is very useful when looking for a perfect low odds match to use as a trigger bet to unlock a free bet. Conversely, it’s also perfect for finding high priced close match odds for extracting the maximum amount of profit out of any free bets that we have!

How to Use The OddsMatcher

Below, I have included a screenshot of the OddsMatcher, I have marked up and numbered all the various elements and highlighted what the purpose is of each.

oddmatcherfunctions

(1) Time/Date:

This represents the time and date that the selection is scheduled to take place.

(2) Details:

This box shows you the name of the event that is taking place.

e.g. date and time of a football match or horse race.

(3) Bet:

This box informs us what selection we should place our back and lay bets on within the particular event.

e.g. what football team or horse to back and lay.

(4) Type:

The type box lets us know what market within the event that we should bet on.

e.g for a football team to win a match this would be “match odds” or for a horse to win a race this would be displayed as “winner.”

(5) Rating:

This is the main filtering feature of the OddsMatcher. The rating represents the difference between the bookie back odds and the exchange lay odds.

The closer the rating is to 100% the closer together in value the back and the lay odds are.

Note: The OddsMatcher will automatically filter the events you have searched for in rating order, highest ratings to the lowest ratings.

(6) Information:

We should use the “I” button if we have decided to use the selection to place our back and lay bets on (more on this further into the article).

(7) Bookmaker:

This box represents what bookmaker the back odds being displayed is with.

(8) Back:

This is the back odds with the bookmaker.

(9) Exchange:

This box represents what exchange the lay odds being displayed is with.

(10) Lay:

This is the lay odds with the betting exchange.

(11) Available:

This box is displaying the current amount of liquidity on the exchange for the selection.

Using the OddsMatcher to Place Your Bets

After browsing and selecting the best match to place your back and lay bet on (which will generally be on 1 of the first options with the highest rating) click on the “I” button.

When clicking on the “I” button a new window will appear, once this occurs click on the “show calculator” button (displayed below). After doing this the calculator will appear, this is very similar to the conventional matched betting calculator that you will already be familiar with.

There are 4 calculator presets to choose from, displayed across the top of the page:

Select which preset is relevant to you.

calculator presets

The OddsMatcher will already populate the bookmaker back odds and exchange lay odds, all that you need to do is enter the back stake that you will be using into the bookmaker stake box. Next, press enter on your keyboard and the calculator will update accordingly.

The OddsMatcher provides a hyperlink to the selection on both the bookmaker’s website (to place the back bet) and the betting exchange (to lay off your back bet). Clicking on go to bookmaker, or go to exchange will directly link you to the relevant events on each website respectively.

Integrating Your Exchange to The OddsMatcher

The OddsMatcher has an inbuilt feature that allows you to place any lay bet at the click of a button. This is another time efficient bonus that is provided by OddsMonkey.

Using this feature saves us from painstakingly entering a lay stake into the exchange and checking that liability matches the calculator. If you want to lay off your back bets using the integration simply click on the “lay the bet” box on the OddsMatcher and then click the confirm button.

Filtering The OddsMatcher

Filtering very often comes in handy when using the OddsMatcher, this could be required should you have a free bet to use with a specific bookmaker. To open up the filter preferences, press the filter “Open/Close” button at the top of the OddsMatcher (shown below).

There are 4 scrollable selection boxes found on the filter, including:

  • Limit Sports
  • Limit Markets
  • Limit Bookmakers
  • Limit Exchanges

You can select as many different variations from each box as you would like to filter.

Note: When starting out I would recommend selecting options I have listed below from in your filter preferences, this will help keep things as simple as possible when it comes to backing and laying your bets.

Limit Sports:

  • Football
  • Horse Racing

Limit Markets:

  • Winner
  • Match Odds

Limit Bookmaker:

Select the bookmaker that you are using.

Limit Exchange:

Select the exchange that you are using.

There are a further 5 boxes to the right hand side of the filter section, along with these boxes there is a scrolling feature, again, I have included a picture below and labelled each element with a description of its functionality.

Match Rating:

This is the minimum and maximum match rating you would like the OddsMatcher to search for, the closer matches you can find to 100% the better for maximizing profits from free bets and minimizing losses from trigger bets.

Note: If you find any matches that are above 100% they will be displayed in red, this represents an arb, this is where the back odds are higher than the lay odds.

Learn More About This Here.

Back Odds:

This will allow you to filter the minimum to the maximum back odds that you are looking for.

Note: Most reload offers that are dished out by the bookies have minimum odds that need to be met in order to qualify for the freebie they are giving away.

These minimum odds are generally 1.5 or 2.0, this section of the filter will ensure the OddsMatcher only locates matches that meet the minimum odds criteria that you are looking for.

Minimum Liquidity:

This box allows you to select the minimum amount of liquidity on each selection that you would like the OddsMatcher to pull up.

What is Liquidity in Betting Exchanges?

Time Scroller:

Use this scrolling feature to select the time range that you would like the OddsMatcher to pull up information from.

Search Box:

This can be used to search any sporting event should that be the name of a football team or name of a specific horse. This is useful should a bookmaker be giving away a free bet providing you qualify with your trigger bet on a specific game. For example, if you need to find matches for a Manchester United game, simply search that term in the search box and the OddsMatcher will filter accordingly.

Note: You can also search terms such as “2up” if you are looking for close matches for this.

Saving Your Own Filter Presets

As you continue to use and get familiar with the OddsMatcher it will become clear that saving your own filter presets is very beneficial when it comes to being time efficient.

This is really easy to do, as I previously mentioned this will help you save as much time as possible when looking for a certain type of match especially when you have a reoccurring offer.

To do this, set up all the filters to your liking using the guide throughout this article. Once you are happy with your selections click the “save as” button at the bottom of the filter section, finally name the filter preset to whatever you desire and confirm the save.

Loading Your Saved Filter Presets

To load any presets that you have saved into the OddsMatcher click the drop down box and select the name of the filter preset you would like to use.

Final Thoughts

When you first lay your eyes on the OddsMatcher it is important not to panic and feel overwhelmed!  I am aware that it can look rather complicated at first glance, but after a short period of time, this will become very natural for you to use and a major part of your daily Matched Betting routine.

Overall this software will save you lots of time and will enable you to blast through as many offers as possible, as quickly as possible, ultimately allowing you to make much more money!
